Album artwork for ADAPTING // CRAWLING
Band marks return with Seattle festival and announces 2025 international tour dates.
Iron Lung is back. Today, the influential punk duo releases Adapting // Crawling, their first full-length album in over 12 years, via their own Iron Lung Records, a cornerstone of the punk and extreme music underground for nearly two decades. The release marks a bold and brutal return for the genre-defying duo of Jensen Ward and Jon Kortland, whose music continues to push emotional and sonic extremes.
Clocking in at 21 minutes, Adapting // Crawling is a concentrated blast of grief, rage, and disillusionment, examining themes of mental health collapse, institutional failures, and existential despair, all filtered through the band’s signature lens of grotesque medical imagery. Each track dissects the trauma of the past five years: personal losses, a collapsing sense of time, and the erosion of trust in the systems that govern us. The band approaches these topics with their signature “us vs. them” lyrical stance—harsh, unyielding, and deeply cathartic.
The album’s release coincides with Iron Lung Records’ 18th anniversary, which the band is celebrating by curating a three-day hometown festival this weekend in Seattle. The event, dubbed What We Like, kicks off tonight and spans three local venues: The Vera Project, Black Lodge, and Beacon Cinema. It features performances from over 25 international acts, two film screenings, a visual art showcase, and local culinary offerings.
In support of Adapting // Crawling, Iron Lung has announced an extensive list of 2025 international tour dates, including stops across North America, the U.K., Europe, Australia, and Japan. A highly anticipated New York City show is confirmed for June.
Accompanying the album are official music videos for “Purgatory Dust // Virus,” “Purgatory Dust (Finale)” and “Cog II,” available now.

ABOUT IRON LUNG:
Formed in 1999, Iron Lung emerged from the ashes of cult punk acts GOB and KRALIZEC. The band’s fascination with antique medical practices and analog equipment has long informed their thematic direction, often drawing parallels between barbaric treatments and modern societal dysfunction. With a sound rooted in aggression but rich with metaphor, Iron Lung continues to defy expectations and push boundaries.
