When they announced their new upcoming album, then proceeded to release a few songs off of it as teasers, I knew it’d be a force to be reckoned with, and it is. I’ve listened to all three songs that have been released and it’s a toss-up for which is my favorite so far. They’re all killer songs and offer parts where you just gnash your teeth, it makes you want to go crazy and move.
When I first heard each song as it was released, I sat there in awe but then instantly moshed in my room to their utterly monstrous sounding songs. “Carolina Crowd Killer” was the first one I heard and let me tell you, I had my mouth wide open at first because of how good it is. I then proceeded to play it over and over again because i just couldn’t get enough of the heaviness that it brought. Next was “Lip Split;” if I had to describe this song in one word, its ignorant, but in the best way possible. It definitely made me act ignorant in my room, that’s for sure. “Lip Split” is just one of those songs where you just want to act ignorant in the pit with no regards whatsoever.
Finally, was “Eggy Mess,” the latest release. It just starts angry and then it’s pure chaos through and through. I can’t get enough of it. If the songs that they’ve released so far are any indication of what’s to come, god knows how the other songs are going to sound. I’m ecstatic and I’m itching to just hear the rest of the album when it drops. So, prepare yourselves; go grab a friend or two and when it drops, listen to it in full. If you’re in the North Carolina or South Carolina area or if you’re willing to travel, come to the Larcenia Roe “Extraction” release performance at Hangar 1819 in Greensboro NC, May 16, they’ll be playing with The Gloom In The Corner, Pyscho Frame, Humanity’s Last Breath, and the almighty Angelmaker. Dental instruments, blast beats, and breakdowns. The unveiling of Larcenia Roe (LR), since their birth in early 2023, has consumed listeners across the globe with their distinctive expression of deathcore. From their debut EP, Dereliction (2024), the band garnered high praise and coverage by influencers, SubReddits, and social media outlets alike. In less than a year from their nativity, LR signed with Unique Leader Records, cementing their way into being one of the fastest growing bands in extreme metal. Though the group holds many comparisons to other extreme sounds in the genre, their unique taste has simply been described as “authentic.” This distinction has generated excitement, hype, and anticipation for their first full-length album. Comprised of 10 songs, Extraction includes new layers with accompanying features from Vulvodynia, Filth, and Alex Koehler. Written and produced by the founding members, Ryan Vail (Vocalist/Producer) and Henry Koster (Composer/ Guitarist), the approach evolves from their debut EP, bringing in sounds from multiple extreme subgenres seasoned with their signature touch.
I’ve been personally following Larcenia Roe ever since before their first show and have been working with them ever since. I’ve had the pleasure of watching this band grow and I’ve seen the members work hard and tirelessly to cultivate and pave their way in this industry; They are reaping what they’ve sown and are cashing in on their hard work. I predicted that they would be internationally known, and they are absolutely crushing the game and are there, ladies and gentlemen. This band is cultivating a sound like no other and marking their place in history and leaving you with your teeth shining as you listen to their music. They’re now standing at 75,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and its rising daily. If you haven’t heard this band yet, you need to give them a listen; Your ears will thank you and you’ll be sure to smile.
