Before the show, I had never heard of Maoli but it is clear Detroit has. Majestic Theater was packed with eager fans adorned by flowers in their hair on Saturday night, awaiting the Maoli show.
Almost an hour before the performance started, fans were screaming his name from the crowd, and that energy continued once he was on stage.
Maoli put on a super energetic show from start to finish, from crowd interactions to the way him and his bandmates played together; there was not a moment of dull time throughout the show.
