The Midwest’s very own Michigan Rattlers played the Blind Pig Ann Arbor last night, March 29. As a stop on their “Waving From A Sea” tour, the band brought their incredible dynamic home to a venue just as timeless as their sound. Originally from Petoskey, Michigan, they’ve managed to take their electrifying performances across the United States, forming a loyal and tight-knit fan base that shows up—and shows out.
A line of passionate fans formed far before doors opened. As the room filled, it became hard to miss the excitement and support that their community thrives off of. After a peaceful and anticipating while, Michigan Rattlers took the stage accompanied by praise from the crowd.
From the very beginning, fans showed love and support for each and every member: lead guitar and vocalist Graham Young, bassist Adam Reed, keysboardist Christian Wilder, and drummer Anthony Audia.
The first song they played was “Heaven,” the opening track off of their new album, Waving From A Sea. It’s a heartfelt track that showcases the bands perfected blend of folk and rock. Michigan Rattlers played many songs throughout the night, maintaining a steady, engaging thrill through every one of them. They not only performed nearly every track off their new album, but also some of their older classics such as “Baseball,” “Evergreen,” and “Illinois Sky.”
The band had a very cohesive feel that not only makes for an amazing sound, but also an incredible crowd. The exchange of energy and feedback between Michigan Rattlers and their fans is such a fortunate thing to experience. This band is on their way to the top, and there is no slowing down in their future.
Michigan Rattlers played a total of 17 songs for their main performance. The night never seemed to slow down as they delivered such a special and uniting show. You can tell the band thrives off of giving their absolute all—and it certainly pays off.
After a roaring round of applause from the crowd, Michigan Rattlers played two additional tracks as an encore. These were “Brutus Road” and “Sweet Diane.” It was truly an unforgettable and powerful performance that I’m beyond thrilled to have covered. The happiness and fulfillment from fans as the band said their goodbyes was nothing short of contagious.
