Cane Hill @ RBC Deep Ellum, Tx

Louisiana-based metalcore band Cane Hill brought an outstanding show to RBC in Deep Ellum, Texas, on Wednesday, March 12. Vocalist Elijah Witt is no short of talent with his unique sound and style, which is apparent in their latest album release, A Piece of Me I Never Let You Find. Deep Ellum got a taste of these new tracks live, along with some throwbacks to engage the crowd and highlight Cane Hill’s passion for music.

Supporting acts Gore, Weeping Wound, Fox Lake, and Mugshot collectively brought their own special take on music, songwriting, and stage presence.

Starting with the first opener Gore, who are Texas based (yeehaw), bring an emotional approach to the feminine perspective in the music scene. Vocalist Haley Roughton is the prime example of being raw, vulnerable, and concise in solidifying where she belongs, regardless of what the world has said to her as a female. Gore’s passion and drive shines through with their energy, their lyrics, and their attention to detail.

Weeping Wound, nu-metal-metalcore band from Tampa, Florida, came to Texas with an insane amount of chaotic energy and excitement. They are known for their intense sound and music, portraying themes of addiction, abuse, and mental illness. They held nothing back in their performance at RBC, and it showed by how in-tune the crowd was in matching their energy on stage.

Next up was Fox Lake. This alternative-indie band from Denver, Colorado, is beyond incredible. From the stage dives to the lyrics, Fox Lake is the band to see. Their newest release, “Cold Hard Truth,” has to be one of the best alternative songs I have heard in a long time—20/20 highly recommend.

Lastly, we have Mugshot. Mugshot’s sound and style are loud and powerful. The San Jose based band have certainly brought their grunts from the West Coast, and they are here to be heard.
