Slow Joy, the solo project of Dallas-based alternative artist Esteban Flores, has announced the last leg of his first U.S. headlining tour. The latest dates span across major cities along the East Coast, including a date at Trans-Pecos in Queens, NY on April 10.
While his stage name has the word “slow,” his rise to success has been quite the opposite. Flores’ latest EP, Mi Amigo Slow Joy, gained critical acclaim from outlets like The Dallas Morning News and Chicago Reader, and earned the titles of “Best New Band” and “Best New Artist” from The Dallas Observer and mxdwn, respectively.
One listen through Flores’ EP will prove exactly why Slow Joy has received so much hype in a short amount of time. In songs like “Pulling Teeth” and “King Cowboy,” Flores captures his personal feelings of love, loss, and insecurity in his lyrics. Combined with gritty, powerful guitars, Flores creates something that is not only raw and vulnerable, but also relatable.
Fortunately, that’s not all that Slow Joy has planned for 2025. His debut studio album is set to release this spring, and his new song, “Gruesome,” is scheduled for release on February 27. In the meantime, you can catch the band on tour with supporting acts Flycatcher, NVM and Daze at any of the upcoming dates.
