Nonpoint: The painful statements, and company

Nonpoint rescheduled their headlining show at the Apollo in St. Belvidere due to bad weather, but there was a storm still in the forecast for the rescheduled date. It just so happened to be inside. Originally, it was a later show with the same bands, but Nonpoint decided to prolong the previous tour into the show. Thus, playing their album Statement front to back and To The Pain front to back for their twentieth and twenty-fifth anniversary years. Alongside the nu-metal titans, Nonpoint brought out Rockford natives So Called Saints, Finding Ghosts, and From Ashes to Embers. Each band brought their own unique flavor to the table as well.

Nonpoint is known to provide a nostalgic throwback with their groovy style, hair flips, and high knee jumps. This specific show was all about the throwback, giving the crowd an anniversary of their two biggest albums. Playing fan favorite singles, like “What a Day,” “Victim,” “Alive and Kicking,” and “Bullet with a Name,” got the crowd absolutely ecstatic.

From Ashes to Embers is a six-piece powerhouse with double vocalists reigning from northern Illinois. The band formed in 2021 and has steadily been making strides throughout the Chicago land, metal-core scene. In September 2023, “FATE” performed at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky. Their sound was described as nothing short of heavy, and showing the respect for the genre’s roots, especially with their cover of System of a Down’s “Chop Suey.”

Finding Ghosts is also a Chicago land-based, metal band, with the strongest influences of 90’s nu metal scene like Spineshank, Limp Bizkit, and Linkin Park. This band is going to be dangerous to the radio in the near future. Currently, the band is working on their debut album, with icon Morgan Rose of the band Sevendust as their producer. They recently released two current singles “Anxious” and “Wake Up.” The band’s is mostly known for their very engaging and energetic live shows. Their singer Aarom Fishel has some of the best crowd engagement possible.

So Called Saints opened the night with a very dark and mysterious manner. Everyone in the band wore their fanciest funeral outfits and white eye contacts, in order to bring their own personal feel of a classic rock show. The band was formed in 2012, and have been hitting the midwest heavily, playing with a ton of artists. Being the staple they are in the area, they bring the heat to another level with their two EPs, a full length album, and current new single “Kill the Host.”
