For the second time in less than a year, metalcore heavyweights The Devil Wears Prada took the stage at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. Previously, the band had toured with Fit For A King on their Metalcore Dropouts tour back in January, but this time they returned with a fresh lineup and a new set of energy for their The Devil Wears Prada is Eternal tour.
The evening of November 3rd kicked off with Greyhaven from Louisville, Kentucky. Lead vocalist Brent Mills, who underwent open-heart surgery in 2016, proved that nothing could slow down the intensity and passion of the band. From the moment they hit the stage, Greyhaven unleashed a wave of energy that set the tone for the whole night. With chaotic breakdowns and emotionally-charged screams, Greyhaven showed the crowd what they could expect next.

The energy only escalated as Like Moth to Flames and SeeYouSpaceCowboy took to the stage respectively. Fans were clearly familiar with both bands and the crowd was in full force–moshing, surfing, and singing along to every song. SYSC, the only female-fronted band of the evening, brought a refreshing change to the lineup of men. Connie Sgarbossa’s presence was a reminder of the diversity that makes up the metalcore scene and it was great to see a strong, female voice on stage. Silent Planet followed with their progressive, uniquely styled metal that resonated deeply with their audience. Garrett Russell came on stage with two shoes on his feet and quickly lost them by the second song, opting to feel the physical sound and give the best performance he could.

By the time The Devil Wears Prada took the stage, the crowd was absolutely fired up. Between the excitement from the iHop ad (if you know, you know), and the high-energy performance of each and every opener, the audience was primed and ready for TDWP. Their tour, which spans the U.S. and beyond, celebrates 20 years of being a band and making timeless music together.
The band’s production was on point, with bright lights that synced with the pulse of the music and spotlight that highlighted each member of the band. This was my second time seeing TDWP live and they did not disappoint–their performance was every bit as tight and energetic as my previous show, if not more so, proving that the band continues to both evolve and remain consistent in the scene.
Overall, the night was an unforgettable celebration of metalcore and its progressive power. The Devil Wears Prada’s Eternal tour continues to prove that their legacy in metalcore is just as strong as ever.
