The Struts roll up to the XL Live with Burn The Jukebox

On October 29, 2024, Harrisburg’s XL Live had a long line wrapping around the side of the building full of fans waiting to see The Struts and Burn the Jukebox. Knowing both bands were inside ready to bring their classic rock ‘n’ roll music had everyone talking in line, whether they came alone or not! I had the chance to meet some of the fans that were waiting, and some of them have seen The Struts since the beginning of their career!

Kicking off the night was Pennsylvania’s very own “Burn the Jukebox.” The rock group consisting of members Virginia Franks (bass, vocals), Ethan Cutillio (keys, vocals), Luke Vanchure (guitar), and Carter Dennis (drums) got on stage ready to bring a fresh new face for the rock scene. Not knowing what to expect when I got in the photo pit, the band walks out and preforms their song “Sugarcoat.” The dual vocals between Virginia and Ethan along side that melodic rock n roll sound was enough to get everyone hooked. They would proceed to play eight of their original songs with one cover of Journeys’ “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” that had the whole crowd singing back to them. Each song was met with the crowd clapping and cheering ready to hear more.

You could feel the crowd’s excitement as they waited for The Struts stage crew to get everything prepped for the British rock band. Forming in Derby, England, in 2012, The Struts are a band you don’t want to miss when they perform a show in your local Club/Venue. Leading the way as the first two members to get on stage, drummer Gethin Davies and guitarist Adam Slack started working up everyone in the audience. Bring in 100% of their charismatic energy, The Struts starts their set with “Primadonna Like Me” then roll into “Fallin’ With Me” which had everyone singing and dancing along. The setlist for The Struts was a master piece in itself, with hits such as “Body Talks,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” and their newly released song “Cant Stop Talking.”

Fans of the band in the XL Live were reminded that we were the lucky last show of 2024! We were also blessed with hearing songs that they haven’t preformed since 2017, 2019, and 2022, those songs being “She Makes Me Feel,” Matter Of Time,” and “Another Hit of Showmanship.” While looking in the crowd, lead singer, Luke, noticed a fan named Shannon holding a sign and she was gifted the chance to play the song “Rockstar” with the band! Now keep in mind, this isn’t something that The Struts do often so this was a one of one performance, Shannon got her chance to drum for them and she absolutely rocked it! The banter on stage and the crowd involvement with the band made this show feel like friends getting together to hang out and make some good ol’ rock ‘n’ roll. Ending the night with their award winning song, “Could Have Been Me” was the perfect way to close off the year for their live appearances.
