Gin Blossoms transcend age gaps

There is no question about it; when you hear songs like “Hey Jealousy” and “Follow You Down,” it is like being transported back in time to a period where sitcoms ruled the small screen. There is a sentimentality to feeling, like your back in your college days, wondering what drama will unfold in the next semester. You will experience a sense of happiness and contentment like sitting in the sunset light of a warm autumn day. Those feeling are exactly what you can expect when you join the Gin Blossoms for a night.

After a six month wait due to medical reasons, The Gin Blossoms where able to finally make this show in Las Vegas a reality. To say it was a dream come true, I think, was an understatement. The house was packed! While not a very large theater by Vegas standards, the International Theater at Westgate Hotel and Casino has seen its fair share of talent though the years, and last night was no exception.

The crowd was more than ready to rock and groove with these well traveled gentlemen. I think what I found most surprising was the sheer reach this group has. The seats where filled with people of all ages, from teens to adults well into their senior years. What made that even better? Everyone was grooving along, no matter their tenure in life.

The presence and energy that front man Robin Wilson had, along with everyone else – Scott Hessel (percussion), Bill Leen (bass), Jesse Valenzuela (rhythm guitar), Scott Johnson (lead guitar) – was infectious and thoroughly enjoyable. I even saw ushers from the venue dancing and moving right along. The entire atmosphere as nothing but love and serene. It wasn’t just people there to see a show; it was an event for the fans, made up of the fans spanning almost four decades.

I have been to a lot venues, have seen countless live shows and concerts, and when I tell you this one was different, I mean it completely. The Gin Blossoms came to perform, to share their passion for their art with you, and share it they did.

I had a wonderful time, guys. I look forward to seeing you again!
