Opry debut for Scott Stapp

Grammy-winning songwriter, solo artist, and Creed frontman Scott Stapp will make his debut at the Grand Ole Opry on October 23. This performance marks Stapp’s first time on the iconic stage and will feature the live debut of his first-ever duet, “If These Walls Could Talk,” featuring rock powerhouse Dorothy (Roc Nation). The acoustic ballad, co-written by Stapp, captures two emotionally charged vocal performances that build to a powerful climax, portraying the agony of silent suffering. The song was penned alongside Kylie Sackley (Sam Hunt, Keith Urban), Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood), and Scott Stevens (Halestorm, Shinedown).

Stapp’s songwriting has always embodied the “three chords and the truth” ethos of Music City, resonating with a broad audience across rock, mainstream, and country genres. His catalog includes iconic tracks like “Higher,” “Arms Wide Open,” “My Own Prison,” “One Last Breath,” “My Sacrifice,” and “Weathered,” as well as solo hits like “Purpose For Pain,” “Higher Power,” and the current chart-climber “Black Butterfly.” His work continues to inspire massive stadium singalongs and has solidified his status as a rock icon.

Since relocating to Nashville in 2016, Stapp has immersed himself in the city’s vibrant music scene. Speaking to The Tennessean, he expressed his appreciation for the community:
“I was unaware until I got into the community how big it is and how supportive and protective they are of people who are sincere… When they know your heart, they’ve got your back.”

Reflecting on his invitation to perform at the Opry, Stapp said:
“I am humbled by this invitation and grateful for the Opry’s tradition of including outliers like me. The Nashville songwriting community has been an incredible source of inspiration and support through a life-changing era for me, so it is a distinct honor to step into the circle for the first time.”

This milestone comes during a transformative year for Stapp, whose fourth solo album, Higher Power, debuted at the top of the charts following its release on March 15 via Napalm Records. In addition, Creed’s highly anticipated reunion tour has taken the industry by storm, being hailed as “one of the hottest rock tickets of the year” (Billboard) and “one of the most anticipated tours of the summer” (USA Today). The tour has consistently sold out amphitheaters and received glowing reviews. Due to overwhelming fan demand, the tour has been extended to include an arena leg, with performances scheduled at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (Nov. 8) and Madison Square Garden (Nov. 29) to close out 2024.
