What an unforgettable night! The Regal City North in Chicago, Illinois, was buzzing with energy as fans packed the IMAX theater for an early screening of “Wicked For Good” on November 17, presented by Amazon Prime and Fandango.
The theater had an electric atmosphere, a whirlwind of emotions that swept through the audience during the entire film. The audience laughed, gasped, and undoubtedly, tears were definitely shed. Without a doubt, everyone in the theater was left in awe. “Wicked For Good” provided a magical, beautifully final journey for Elphaba and Glinda in Oz, leaving behind an inspiring, uplifting legacy of friendship and self-discovery. Given the difficult times we are facing in the US political environment, it’s difficult to ignore the similarities between what is happening in the U.S. right now and what is happening in Oz. The film evoked a strong sense of hope and a call to action.
The two new songs added to the film, “No Place Like Home,” performed by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and “The Girl in The Bubble,” performed by Ariana Grande as Glinda, elevated the film to new heights. These songs fit seamlessly into the story, as if they were always meant to be part of it. Cynthia and Ariana poured their hearts into these performances, making the music blend effortlessly with the emotions of the film.
The entire cast and crew of the Wicked films truly deserve recognition for their incredible contribution to these masterpieces. Each person played an important role in bringing the land of Oz to life and offered fresh perspectives on these beloved characters. Wicked fans will not be disappointed with this powerful conclusion.
“Wicked For Good” premieres nationwide on November 21. I promise that once you walk out of that theater, you will be changed for good, just as I have.
